Fundraising ideas for school trips

Did you know that we offer school trips to our farm? A great way to do some learning out of the classroom, there’s something for everyone (even the adults) at the Pink Pig Farm.

But we know how tight school budgets for things like this can be. And while our trips are great value (just £9 per child), it’s not always easy to find that extra cash.

We’d love to see you at the farm, so that’s why I’m here to suggest some ways you can raise funds for a school trip, aside from simply asking your parents to cover the costs.

1. Partner with a local business

You’d be surprised how many small, local businesses would want to sponsor something like a school trip. Maybe they’ve got a child or two in the school or perhaps they went there themselves.

By partnering with a local business, they gain some positive PR in the area while paying for your school trip. A win-win for everyone.

2. Speak to your local authority

On a similar note, lots of local authorities would be happy to send your school on a trip. Again, their public image is enhanced (particularly important if it’s around election time) and the status of the school in their jurisdiction experiences a boost as well by being seen as a place that pushes different types of learning.

So speak to your local authority and see what funding you can get from the government for a school trip (particularly an educational one like this).

3. Hold sponsored events and sales

The old reliable. Whether it’s a non-uniform day, a bake sale or a raffle, parents are always willing to pay a little extra if there’s something fun going on at school.

You can get as creative as you want with fundraisers as well. Why not put the children to work with a car wash or let them burn some energy with a dance-a-thon. The choices are endless and will no doubt generate some money (especially if the parents know it’s for a school trip).

Something that benefits the local area like a litter pick may also attract donations from people outside of the school. Set up a fundraising page on GoFundMe or JustGiving and spread the word about the event.

4. Put on a ticketed night out for the parents!

Why not host a family quiz night (we can help you come up with an animal or farm themed round of questions!) and sell tickets to enter?

Not only could your takings cover the cost of the children’s visit, but you can get your parents feeling more invested in the whole educational purpose behind the trip!

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to raise funds for a school trip to the Pink Pig Farm. And if you’re still not sure if it’s worth it, just consider the benefits of a trip to our farm:

-       Hands-on, respect-driven learning in the great outdoors.

-       The children learn about farm life, something not usually covered in the curriculum.

-       Our friendly staff love satisfying children’s naturally inquisitive minds.

-       It’s good for children to experience different settings (we all know how antsy they can get sat in a classroom for too long).

-       There’s plenty of things to see and do, so there’s something for everyone.

-       Lots of photo opportunities to show parents that the trip was worth it and potentially attract more people to the school.

-       Coffee available throughout the day (for the adults, obviously).

-       It’s just a fun day out!

There really are so many reasons to raise some funds and treat the children to an unforgettable day at the Pink Pig Farm.
